i am dark skin. i had to wear red lipstick once and it didn't look that good. so i tried a lighter red, and this time i used a lip gloss. you can try that.

But a shiny, somewhat dark, rich red would look more flattering.
Sorry but no. African Americans don't look good with bright red lipstick. A darker red would be nice though.

If you are bit red shy then try a sheer red gloss or wear the red lipstick of your choice and put some gold gloss on it. Gold gloss is my trick to town down a too bright color and it gives a nice sparkle. Gold gloss can be found at Sephora.
If you are going for a more matte red lips look then definitely go easy on your eye make up and keep it light. True the light reds are best left for the light skinned girls. An olive skin, or heavily tanned girl wearing a light red would look awkward.
If you are not light skinned, I suggest you go for the darker reds. I got 2 weeks ago, ';drop dead red'; liplust from Coonobabe. It's a deep, dark, intense 40's style red that never goes out of style. Recommend it. Also try their ';bloodrose'; lip bullet. Even a light skinned girl can wear dark reds, they never go out of style. Take the guesswork out of lipstick.

You guys are all crazy. Bright red lipstick looks like **** on 95% of the people I see (even celebrities). The 5% that looks good with it are usually very light-skinned, because it has such a strong contrast.
But if I wanted to be safe (say on a first date), I'd steer clear of bright red lipstick.

I aways tell them ';I'm just weird'; Honestly my makeup is just something I do to show how I feel at the moment that I put it on,and it makes me feel good. So If you think you look good in bright red,or dark red,or any other color of the rainbow wear it and don't worry about what other people think. What is important is how you feel about yourself. My son is nine years old now and a friend gave him the best shirt the other day. I told her now she just has to find one in my size. Ofcourse it`s ok, but you have to take in consideration certain things:
1. First thing to consider is the occasion, for day you may try to take things more natural, freash, clean and muted, and save your red lipstick for a night in the town with the girls.
2. Second thing is the texture, it defines actually the occasion and the colour of the red lipstick, if you are going for a party, christmas %26amp; new year etc... you should go for a matt red lipstick, if you are going for a formal occasion you should go for a satin texture, for a natural look go for a gloss.
3. Third thing to remember is that a red lipstick needs a whole setting with your entire look, not only your make up, so you have to be very careful with what you are wearing, as an outfit and what you are wearing as make up, and your hairstyle should go with the whole package.
4. Fourth thing is your nails, both of your hands, and your feet, they have to be red and go with your lips.

umm, i hate people who overdo it when they're just going to school or university or whatever.

You can also make a pale turqios-ey color by mixing baby blue powder eye shadow with hot pink shadow and put it on the outer half of your upper lid. Or you can just take some liquid glitter and sprinkle or apply it right underneath your bow for some sparkle. OR just hold off on the shadow and just put on a good mascara for a natural, big eyed look.

What are the best blush, lipstick and eyes shadow shades my fair skin, bright aburn hair and blue eyes?
I have WAY to much makeup, I think if I found what would go particularly look best on me I could clean out my unused makeup and then buy a just a couble simple nessesities. I still like to play around, I went to the cover girl but after I put in my information all the suggested brown and gold and a few random products. I'm glad I know brown works well for me now but I would like a little divercity. I mean with lipstick should would mauves, pinks, reds, corals which would compliment my complextion hair and eyes? With eye shadows would I look best in neautrals, greens, browns, violets? Amd with blush should I drift towards pinks, peaches, plums? Hopefully someone who knows something about cosmopolgy could help out or if not direct me to a sight where they adress those things?What are the best blush, lipstick and eyes shadow shades my fair skin, bright aburn hair and blue eyes?
For your eyes, I would do navy blues, violets, and shocking greens to really make your eyes pop. I think liquid-liners would really be perfect too.
For your lips, I would do a dark red lip-liner and a bright red lipstick. That might make you seem more fair, but it will make your lips and hair stand out. Also, darker pinks might work.
For blush, I would use peach color to give you more of a peaches and cream complexion. Also, I think pinks would look really good too.
Remember to experiment to find what you like.

For eye shadow, I use greys, mauves, occasionally a turquoise. For hair color, nothing orangy or reddish, e.g. neutral blonde. (I am old enough to color my gray hair.) As an example of the clothing selections, there is one shade of light lemon yellow which flatters my face, but anything with any gold in it looks terrible on me.
Think about what it would mean for your clothing budget if you knew your color category! It cuts down on belts, shoes, handbags you need, because you don't have to accessorize every section of the color wheel. You would be selecting clothes from certain colorations, and it increases how much everything you own can be mixed and matched. I avoid navy around my face, but it is a great color for slacks. I buy almost no brown, gold, rust. Jewelry and eyeglasses around my face should be silvery, not gold.

For example, one of her tools was four pieces of red fabric, about 30'; x 30';, sewn together on one side. She would drape it across the shoulders of the person, then peel back each layer. Amazingly, there was one of those reds, and only one, which enlivened and flattered the face of each person. The cool red is the one with blue undertone, and the warm red has orange undertone.
Incidentally, i think some of the Merle Norman people have been trained in some of this. But in retail clothing stores, typically they will try to tell you anyone can wear anything--it's just not true. Well, it's legal, if you want to look tired and old!

Lipstick colour for Pale skin/Blue eyes/Brown hair?
I really am struggling to find a lipstick colour that will suit my odd colouring. I want a wearable lipstick, so obviously not too bright, so I can use it everyday?
I've tried pinks because someone once told me it would suit, but it looks ridiculous because my lips are so dark. I also tried the 'nude lips' trend, with a kind of skin coloured lipstick, but that looked even worse! I also find that browns make me look really washed out, so has anyone got any ideas?

';Hug Me'; is a great everyday neutral shade which should suit your colouring - it's not too light or dark, and as it's high quality the pigment is dense, and cheaper lippies don't always provide enough. You can add a clear gloss over the top for a dressier evening look.
Try a peachy color or a lipstick that has peachy tones to it. I find pinks hard to wear and I'm brunette with really fair skin.
And if you really want to wear a pink tone, stay away from the baby pinks and go more with the berry, rose colors. They are much easier to wear and look good on almost everyone.

Since you have a fair complexion i would not recommend wearing red lipstick. Bright reds will wash you out and make you look even more pale.....(im rellllllly pale so it sux). If you don't like the Ruby Woo, they have tons of reds to choose from. The MAC lipsticks are $14 where as a drug store brand averages at about $10 so it's not too much more. Good luck :)

It will make things apply easier and your lips will stay moist. A popular lip color this yr. is a color that looks like Copper or Champagne Gold. That would go nicely or a medium pink would work.
For a business meeting, I would suggest a matte lipstick in a slightly darker hue than your natural lip color. I've read in a lot of magazines that it is not proper to wear shiny lip gloss for business attire.

when people recomend red lipsticks for u they go on about blue toned red lipstick or red toned i think or else its defined `as hot and cold colour reds but what do theses look like and witch goes with witch skintone colouring hair etc?

For what you have said about your skin, I think that a smoky eye using black, brown or deep purple eyeshadow would look fantastic on you, its also a great party look. If you are not into the smoky eye, then a shimmery gold would also look great with your complexion! The general rule for makeup is if you have a dramatic eye then keep your lips neutral, and if you go for dramatic lips, then keep eye make-up to a minimum. I would suggest you match your lipstick to your natural color and then slick on some gloss over the top and you are done! You don't want to be wearing a mishmash of colors and end up looking like a clown! Hope this helps.

Singapore airline is one of the best airlines in the world. However, I don't think their idea of make-up for their air stewardesses is.
Since they have a high reputation to uphold, I think physical appearance plays a big part as well. Therefore, I think this make up combo is a bad idea. Personally I think that having blue eyeshadow and red lipstick would be a bit much. Usually, if you wear the red lipstick you wear very natural and minimal eye makeup.
Makeup is awesome and I don't think I'll ever say it should go, but, maybe they should rethink this combination!

It depends on your underlying skin tone... are you warm or cool? Warm toned people (like natural redheads or strawberry blondes, for instance), look good in yellow, orange, green, brown; if those are your best colors, your fair skin would look great in golden ivory or light golden beige foundation, a soft peach or rust (bronze) blusher, soft greens, browns and yellows for eyeshadows, brown/black mascara, and a peachy or bronzey lip gloss... think warm fire tones (underlying gold tones, warm). Cool toned people (more people are this), look good is blue, pink, true red, purples, black; if these are your best colors, your fair skin would look best in cool ivory or light cool beige foundations, soft rose or plum blusher, soft lavenders, greys, charcoal eye shadows, black mascara, and a mauve or rosey lip gloss... think cool water, ice and snow tones (underlying blue tones, cool). p.s. The more orange or golden toned the color is, the warmer it is; the farther away from orange and gold a tone is (blue, purple, etc.), the cooler it is, hope this helps to simplify! ;0)

One of the most common makeup mistakes women make is picking the wrong tones, this will take ALL of the guess work out of it... this book is from 1985, but color theory will remain the same; yellow and blue will always make green! ;0)

I have semi blonde hair and blue eyes and what I do is keep it simple, i put on brown eyeshadow and then put pink on over it and line my eye brows with the pink, it looks pretty cool it think and i use a pink blush and a pinkish red lipstick, also try using a brown mascara if u want to look more natural. My eyeshadow came in a pack of 3 with 2 diff brown colors and a pink by covergirl, my blush is from clinique and my lipstick is a gloss from american eagle. Good luck!!
as for the lipstick, if you want to be bold you should use a bright red, that looks great for ppl with fair skin, blond hair and blue eyes.

I know it sounds really weird, but I love the way silver lipstick looks if you apply a little bit with a lipgloss brush and then put some shear blue sparkly lipgloss over it. I want some of each for school, but the only place I found that has any is Manic Panic, and not only is theirs $10.80, which I refuse to pay for a single tube of any kind of makeup, but it is too dark. I'm looking for a pale, shear, silver lipstick.

i couldn't find silver lip gloss however if you like the manic panic you can use it to make a homemade lip gloss or you could make the homemade lip gloss and add a silvery glitter to it or make it the exact color that you like of the blue and silver mix. also makes it more nourishing for the lips and you can control the exact color. i have enclosed the link to the recipes for the lip gloss hope this helps someone

If you can't find it, Get a very solid color of eyeshadow that shade and first put one layer of chapstick on your lips (not too much), then take your finger and rub the color of eyeshadow on your lips, then put a clear gloss over it to finish the look. But watch out because some eyeshadows have fine powders that can wear out the skin on your lips.
I do this all the time for stage makeup :)
Costume store's, or you can apply blue eye or lip pencil under a clear lip gloss and get the same affect. You can probably get the pencil at wal-mart or hottopic

I don't think anyone makes a lipgloss that colour for everyday use.
You could try a fancy dress shop or costume place if you want it for a costume
well if you go to mac it will only be a glitter like substance. Claire's and Icing have some outrageous make up colors. So if glitter lip gloss doesn't work for you try those places.

Buy a cheap bright blue eyeshadow from the drugstore or buy a mineral pigments which you can find online or from brands such as Bare Escentuals. Crush it up into a fine dust and mix it in with your lipgloss until the lipgloss is the desired intensity.

Kevyn Aucoin used one, actually he's used many, love it but can't locate anything. I've found several decent or great lipsticks, but any blue lip gloss that I have been in contact with is pretty much transparent and/or your lips have a very slight purple tint. The wet shine that lip gloss gives but a thick, rich blue is quite hard to find, but exactly what I am personally searching for.
